Peninsula Connections Networking Group

Purpose of Group
We are an established networking group comprised of business professionals whose purpose is to assist each other in obtaining referrals and contacts to enhance and expand each other's business.
Bylaws Definition
Bylaws are the written rules for conduct for an organization. They are a contract among members, and must be formally adopted and/or amended by a majority vote of the membership.
Leadership
1. The Executive Leadership consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. This is the minimum needed to have a group
- The President is elected every six months and may serve two consecutive terms (1 year). They are then eligible for re-election long as there is one term off between each two consecutive terms served.
- Elections are by a majority vote of the membership.
- The President shall appoint the Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Membership Committee members each term.
2. The President appoints other positions as needed each term (e.g. Guest Hosts, Business Group Mentors, etc.)
3. The Leadership Team consists of the Executive Leadership and any other appointed positions.
Leadership Responsibilities
President
The President leads the meetings, manages the Leadership Team and appoints all positions.
Vice President
The Vice President fills in for the President as needed, heads the Membership Committee and tracks referrals, 1:1s and visitors.
Treasurer
The Treasurer manages the group’s finances, including collecting dues, making deposits and keeping a budget.
Secretary
The Secretary maintains the speaker rotation, the group’s documents and the card box and records and sends meeting minutes.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for coordinating visitor follow ups, determining whether applicants are suitable for group membership, performing periodic review of members and recommending members for expulsion.
- The Committee is comprised of the Vice President plus at least two other members from different Business Groups.
Guest Hosts
Guest Hosts are responsible for greeting guests, collecting their contact information, ensuring they are introduced to other members and understand the meeting procedures.
Business Group Mentors
Business Group Mentors are responsible for mentoring new members in their business group and following up with visitors as requested by the Membership Committee.
- Each business group will have a mentor.
- Mentorship activities will take place during the first two weeks of a member’s tenure with the group and continue as needed. Initial mentoring includes:
- What makes a qualified referral.
- Absentee and substitution rules.
- One-to-one meeting rules.
- How to do a 30-second infomercial
- Member and dues expectations.
Meetings
Meetings will be held weekly, at a time and place determined by the Leadership Team.
Member Dues
- Each member must pay the annual membership dues at the beginning of their yearly start date.
- The annual membership fee is non-refundable.
- The annual membership dues may be changed only with a majority vote of the current membership.
If the venue includes breakfast, members must pay the breakfast dues quarterly. Breakfast dues will be refunded on a pro-rata basis if someone leaves the group.
Website
Members will be included in the website after three consecutive months in the group
Member Acceptance Criteria
The Membership Committee will review the application and decide whether the person and their business fit well within the group.
Acceptance criteria:
- Only one person per business category is allowed so that there is no competition for referrals within a category.
- Acceptable application and reference checks.
- Acceptance of member expectations and bylaws.
- Payment of membership dues.
Member Release Criteria
The Executive Leadership is responsible for deciding to remove a member on recommendation by the Membership Committee.
Failure to meet the following is cause for review and may result in expulsion from the group:
- Failure to have one-to-one meetings, qualified referrals, or bringing visitors to the group on a regular basis.
- Missing more than two meetings a quarter without a substitute.
- Failure to pay dues on time.
- Inappropriate behavior.
